I turned 21 just before Saint Patrick's Day in 2012 during that freakishly warm March where it felt more like June, and I remember it being in the upper 70s and wearing shorts at the parade. It was freakish weather but honestly a blast A friend and I just moved into the city this year and looking to partake in the St.Pattys day festivities. Neither of us have been to any bars yet so looking for any recommendations on those and navigating the city to see the river and deal with the craziness I would avoid the pubs right off the parade route as they're usually packed. Paddy Reillys is great, they have music most of the day. I usually head over to the pubs in Sunnyside and Woodside in Queens. If you don't like St Patrick's day then avoid the parade route and any vaguely Irish bar and you won't know it's happening.
